Instructor Names: Zachary Adams, Christophe Gomez, David Hancock, KJ Holm, David Mullich and Shaun McCabe
Short Project Description:
Blasted Layoffs is a fast-paced, comedic single player FPS with light puzzles. Players are Philip, a new temp at Everything, Everywhere, Enterprises, challenged by the CEO: reach his office for a grand promotion, while salaried workers get fired trying to stop you.
Design Pillars:
Fast Paced Action
To better emulate a fast-paced work environment, combat and movement should be fast as well. Players will need to be engaged in combat as much as possible to gain resources.
Person vs Corporation
The overall message of the game is a commentary of how corporations treat their workers, both the good and the bad. Corporations have a lot of power, which will be exaggerated even further for this concept to drive the point home.
Office Comedy
Without comedy this game is just violence in an office. Little moments of levity will better communicate the messaging of the game than uninterrupted violence.
