3rd term review instructions and resources

Hello 3rd Term Animation Students

Please follow these instructions to make 3rd Term Review as effective as possible.
Please note that you will be notified when dates and times are confirmed. At that point you will be able to reserve a slot using the link on the right.

What is the 3rd term review?

3rd term review is a meeting with the Director and at least one faculty member, during which we look at your overall growth as a student, artist, and professional. It’s also a conversation about what YOU want to achieve in the track and what YOU want to focus on professionally. Please be ON TIME!

What are the things we are looking for?

What’s important to us is that we see how you progressed through the track. Is there a clear upward trend in the quality and originality of your work? We also are interested in seeing your passion and what it is you want to do as an animation professional. Lastly we want to see you clearly have mastered all the fundamentals ensuring you’re ready for the next 3 terms.

Who can participate?

Check your degree audit — you can only do the 3rd term review if you have taken and passed all the required Animation track classes in 1st & 2nd term AND are taking all the classes in 3rd term (studio classes only — this does not include H&S classes). Please inform us NOW if you haven’t fulfilled this requirement.

What artwork will you need to submit?

After you have organized your work for each of the following categories, send a shared link to Natalie.Williams@ArtCenter.edu ASAP. Make sure the sharing settings are set to “Anyone with a link can view.” - and Don’t invite anyone to collaborate, just send the shared link.

Possible outcomes

Pass - Great! you can move to 6th term
Pass - You can move to 6th term BUT, you’ll get instruction on what to improve on. Usually it’s extra classes (in or outside of ArtCenter) to improve certain skills
Fail - You cannot take any 6th term classes and higher — you’ll get instructions on what to improve on. You can take 5th term review again next term and show your progress and hopefully pass then

You will be notified by email in a timely manner after 5th term review

Please make an appointment with your director (marlon.nowe@artcenter.edu) if you have any questions and/or concerns.

Good luck!
